Common Causes

  • Crankshaft or camshaft position sensor signal dropout, heat failure, or contamination
  • Connector corrosion, loose pins, damaged shielding, or harness rub-through
  • Reluctor wheel damage, metal debris, excessive air gap, or sensor mounting issue
  • Timing chain stretch, slipped timing, phaser issue, or cam/crank correlation fault
  • Low battery voltage or starter draw reducing cranking signal quality
  • PCM input fault only after waveform and circuit checks support it

Diagnostic Steps
